July started at the Pony Club Area 14 Dressage competition, where Alex was judging whilst Liza had several riders there, well done to Frankie, Neha, Scarlett and Meggie! We have also welcomed Charleigh Britton and her horse Freddie to the team!
First premier league of the month was at Hartpury Festival of Dressage, Jonny and Liza were 9th and 10th in the Inter1 both on 67% and then Liza went on gain 8th place in the Inter2.
Livery client Debbie Cole enjoyed a successful outing to Kings Sedgemoor with Fox to come 2nd in their elementary on 65.8%! Meanwhile Collective Daydreams have been adding to their results tally with a visit to Summerhouse Equestrian & Training Centre for another Quest Club BD competition – where they clocked up another team second. Well done to Lily, Emma and Meggie – especially to Meggie for her win! Their next outing led to a team win at Kings Sedgemoor Equestrian Centre. Lily was 2nd in her section with 66%. Emma was also 2nd on 67.3% and then won her Prelim on 66%! Scarlett was also 2nd on 68% in her prelim too! With the arrival of their new team kit from Tylers, they will be looking very smart at their next competition.
We welcomed back Ridgeway Rider and Equestrian Pro TV for the filming of our next training series, as well as Your Horse magazine – so keep your eyes peeled in the future!
A worthwhile trip to Devon for Liza and Rosie to Bicton Arena for the Regionals! They were 2nd their PSG class on 67.8% and then 4th in the Inter1 on 67%!
We then held an intensive short course, this time aimed at the younger competitive rider. The girls enjoyed training sessions with Liza, test riding with Alex, either a jumping lesson or a schoolmaster less as well as a sports psychology talk with Danielle Olding from “From the Neck Up”, which plenty of other clients also benefited from, plus individual sessions afterwards. Combined with test riding and schooling demos from the team and a canter round the fields to finish with it turned out to be a super few days!
Then came plenty of packing with 2 lorries heading off to 2 different international competitions! Kathryn and Lexi headed up to Yorkshire to the Bishop Burton CPEDI representing Ireland on the Para team! Coming home with 3 top 3 placings despite being a very new partnership! Meanwhile Jonny, Alex and Liza travelled to Hickstead CDI in Sussex with Zak, Ruben and Rosie. Alex made it a hat trick winning all 3 of his Young Rider classes – including a huge 74% in the freestyle! His fabulous music was created by Tony Hobden from Equidance, to practise Alex also used Tony’s new wrist speaker – which saved blasting out the music from the car! Zak made his GB debut and came a super 8th in the PSG on 69%, in only his 2nd ever Inter1 there were a few green mistakes that dropped the score down – but we are very excited about the underlying quality of the harder work! Rosie didn’t quite approve of the rain or the mud giving Liza some tricky rides – but they made their International Grand Prix debut and came 6th in each class! It was very special to be able to share the show with so many clients who travelled up to enjoy our VIP Hospitality table!
On returning to Somerset, the girls moved back in to their refurbished flat – after some extensive team building involving flat packed furniture! The livery tackroom was also treated to an expansion whilst the Indoor kickboards have also been replaced. If you haven’t visited Curls Farm recently, you won’t recognise it!
We are looking forwards to a slightly quieter August, whilst the horses also enjoy a slight downtime following a very busy few months! Take advantage of more availability in the diary and book in a lesson – and a tour of the new look yard!
